Being Valentines Day and all it almost forces people to think about the one thing they either cherish or despise : relationships.

You know...I used to have the beleif that there is one person out there for everyone, a "soulmate," but after everything I have been through and learned from, I don't think that this is the case.

I beleive that there are many people in the world that someone can be compatible with.  I just think that it depends on when the two people meet.  Are they at the same general point in their life?  Do they have goals that go in the same direction?  Does any part of their personality clash with the other's to cause conflict which may or may not be compromised?

Now...these questions aren't all of the story either.  A relationship also depends on compromise, communication, and commitment....aaahhh the three C's which many people have no comprehension of.  Haha...comprehension even fits in that sentence, how hilarious is that?!

Compromise - sorry to break it to you people, but when you are with somebody, you aren't always going to have your way fully and completely....what is that you say Tylene?  I can't be selfish and get what I want all of the time...?  Ummm..no

Communication - if you don't know (or learn) how to communicate with someone, then the relationship will never work.  To solve problems, which there will be even in the most "perfect" relationship, you have to communicate with one another...

Commitment - Seriously people...no matter how much you love your significant other, there will be days which you just want to get as far away from that person as possible.  Even though these days come up, you can't just go off and get another relationship like a new chocolate surpise from a box of candy.  People just don't know how to be commited anymore!! Just look at how many people divorce nowadays...it's really sad how many broken families there are out there....Relationships take work people!  Life really isn't the fairy tale that so many folks dream in....

Nobody is perfect, except for God, so you really need to learn what is important about being in a relationship before you get too hot and heavy into it - can the "issues" be compromised....or should you have ended it a long time ago?...

I feel like I am a level headed, smart, funny, creative and beautiful person, mistakes and all......so why is it on this love day that I sit here typing as a single?.....

  • "By swallowing evil words unsaid, no one has ever harmed his stomach."  ~Winston Churchill

The truth is though...we don't always think before we speak.  Why is it that we say some of the harshest comments to those that we really love and admire?  Why is it that we hurt the people that are (or unfortunately were) very close to us.  I wish that I could take back some of the things that I've said to people that I really didn't mean...but I can't.  What's done is done, and all I can do now is to hope that the person(s) that I've hurt will let me meet them half way to say my apologies and come the rest of the way forgiving me.  I didn't mean to hurt you, and that was never my intention....I'm sure that you didn't mean to hurt me, but you surely did.  Yet, when a person puts up a protective guard, then they tend to do and say things that they really don't mean.  You may laugh at me like a pathetic looser, never having the desire to ever talk to me again.  You probably think that I'm wasting all of my time, even though you really do mean a lot to me.  If it weren't for you, then I wouldn't have learned some valuable life lessons that needed to be learned.  Whether you want to admit it or not - you probably learned a great deal from me also....but all I can say is this - I'm sorry, I didn't mean it.....won't you come back into my life someway again.....?

The most important trip you may take in life is meeting people halfway.  ~Henry Boye

(whether they decide to meet you on the other half or not.....for it's not up to you...)
